Some people cannot resist certain restaurants because they serve great food. Famous chefs from all over the world are preparing great cuisines for some of the top restaurants all around the world. Being a chef today is not only prestigious but those who can distinguish themselves above their competition may also make a lucrative amount for their efforts.

With that being said, even the best local restaurants are looking for people who have been trained in some of the best culinary schools. This means everyone can prepare their taste buds for luxurious appetizers, astounding entrees and awesome deserts. Presently, the preparations for these foods are being made with the health conscious people in mind. However, just because a dish is healthy, it does not mean the food is not great. So, eating out today in local restaurants is ideal for many. In fact, people go to their local restaurants for various reasons. Listed below are two top reasons why eating at local restaurants is ideal:

Dieters Can Choose Meals According to Specific Diet Plans

In the past, most dieters would not think about going to a restaurant to eat because they had to watch their calories. In essence, they would have to turn down lunch and dinner dates, since they did not want to break their diet. As a general rule, eating out in restaurants was considered to be a taboo, specifically for those who could not bear the temptation involved (i.e. high calorie dishes).

Today, these perceptions have changed dramatically, since the local restaurants are positioning themselves to accommodate the dieter. Based on the type of dieting plan the person has restricted their eating practices to, the individual can look for those that cater to their diet regimes.

Many restaurant owners are also aware of some of the most popular diet plans. They are not only looking for dishes that will fit into these programs but they are trying to make sure the dieter has a tasty meal. For instance, some restaurants are catering to dieters that want to limit their overall carbohydrate intake. Therefore, they are preparing entrees that contain fewer carbohydrates. These entrees are also listed on the menus with the ingredients and the specific amount of carbs included. So, if a person is on a 50 carb diet plan, they can choose an entrée that has 50 carbs or less. This will allow the dieter to control their carb intake, whilst also enjoying the company of friends and family.

Socialize with Others Without the Clean-Up

People like to spend time with others, eating and socializing. However, the preparation for these meals can take time and lots of work. Cleaning up after these meals is also a major drawback to eating at home. Consequently, as a great alternative, these events can be moved from the home to a local restaurant. Some of these local restaurants can offer a wide variety of different foods to their customers, and everyone can leave happy and full.

Some people enjoy going to local restaurants for a variety of different reasons. From going to get steamed vegetables to eating a scrumptious high calorie cake, everyone knows why they like these restaurants. Whatever the situation, local restaurants are ideal for both individuals and groups whilst eating out.

When you're looking to spice up dinner creations, garlic is a staple that can be used to make many intriguing new dishes. From appetizers to desserts, a little garlic can go a long way in making your meal flavor-rich and tasty. Recipe selections offer a range of fresh ingredients and all highlight that kitchen workhorse, fresh garlic.

Garlic-infused recipes　fall into five main categories:

Appetizers

-Cold Shrimp with Garlicky Vinaigrette: Cook one pound of shrimp in boiling water for two minutes until just pink. Remove the shells and set aside to cool. Whisk together a third of a cup each of lemon juice and olive oil. Add a tablespoon of chopped garlic, a tablespoon of chopped parsley, one and a half teaspoons of fresh thyme and salt and pepper to taste. Pour the garlic vinaigrette over the shrimp and refrigerate until ready to serve.

-Red Pepper Antipasti: Preheat the oven to 375. Slice four onions and six garlic bulbs in half and place on a roasting sheet. Add eight whole peppers pierced with a skewer to allow steam to escape. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with fresh herbs and cook for 45 minutes.

Soup/salad

-French Garlic Soup:　Peel 24 cloves of garlic and place 22 cloves plus eight fresh sage leaves in a large saucepan. Add five cups of water and two teaspoons of salt and bring to a boil. Boil for 15 minutes and then strain the garlic and sage out of the garlicky stock. Mash the garlic by hand and return it to the soup, adding a pinch of saffron. Simmer until ready to serve. For serving, rub cut garlic (from your two reserved cloves) on four slices of day-old French bread. Top with grated Gruyère cheese and broil the bread until the cheese melts and bubbles. Place the bread in the bottom of your soup bowls, pour soup over and top your bowl with additional grated Gruyère.

Main dish

Rosemary Garlic Chicken: Cut a roasted chicken into pieces. Melt one stick of butter in a saucepan and add the beer of your choice to the saucepan. Add in one tablespoon of garlic and a few rosemary leaves. Simmer to reduce the beer. Create a basting brush by tying several rosemary stocks to a wooden spoon. Place the chicken on a prepared grill and baste with the beer-rosemary mixture. The rosemary basting brush will add additional flavor. Continue to baste the chicken periodically until cooked through.

Sides

-Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Finely mince a teaspoon of garlic. Meanwhile, boil or microwave three medium-sized potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and use a potato masher to mash the potatoes. Add garlic, salt and pepper, up to four tablespoons of butter and a quarter cup of sour cream; stir until smooth.

Drinks/dessert

-Garlic Martini: Place two jiggers of gin and half a jigger of vermouth in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake or stir and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an olive stuffed with a garlic clove.

Don't feel pressured to serve all these dishes at once in a garlicky gala. You can choose among these recipes to put together your next dinner party or family meal. Once you begin using garlic in unexpected ways, you may be inspired to add fresh garlic to more dishes.

Soak the strawberries, leaves and all in the vinegar/water mixture for a few minutes. Then drain the strawberries in a colander until they are completely dry.

Then place strawberries in an uncovered bowl in the refrigerator. The vinegar/water mixture kills any mold spores on the strawberries and keeps them fresh longer. The vinegar does not affect the taste. This also works for all kinds of berries: blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and apples.

Sports Injury Clinics- Picture Credit-abbeychiro.ie

In the world of sports, athletes will work hard to be able to perform at their highest level and it takes a lot of work to be able to become the best. If you are looking to reach your full potential in your particular sport, then you need to have a plan that will help you improve your skills on a daily basis. However, other than your skills, you also need to understand how important it is to stay healthy and to make sure your body is performing at the highest level possible. Here are three reasons why sports injury clinics can help you with your fitness goals.

More Knowledge On How Your Body Functions

When you visit sports injury clinics, you will be able to surround yourself around people that know a lot about injuries and sports and how it will affect your performance. There is a lot of information regarding your body and so you will be able to get this information. This is very important because you need to know how you much your body can handle and how far you are from reaching your full potential.

They Can Help Prevent Injuries

Visiting sports injury clinics will help you to also learn about how you can prevent injuries. Several sports injury clinics will give you a good outline and plan of how you can prevent injuries and what you need to do in the gym in order to avoid future injuries. This is crucial for your future success because you will be able to avoid spending time outside of your sport. However, this does not guarantee that you will be able to completely prevent injuries because it can often be inevitable.

Help Recover From Injuries Quicker

If you happen to get injured, then a good clinic will help you get back on track. This is their speciality and you must focus on finding the right people to help you out. This is vital because most people don't know how to treat their injuries and will often just make it worse. You need to have the right guidance so that you can recover as quickly as possible. When you have the right information and the right exercises, it is much easier to get back to 100%. With a good sports injury clinic, you will be better prepared with what your sport will do to your body.

The majority of athletes that have made it to the professional level will admit that they have been able to succeed because of the help of sports injury clinics. They are very helpful and can help any athlete become faster and stronger for their respective sports. However, you must find a clinic that will have your benefit in mind and this can be quite a challenge. Look around your area and take your time with finding the right people. This may take some effort on your part but it will be worth it in the end. Be patient and you will be able to become the best athlete possible.

by Stacey Thompson

Food trucks have been around for quite some time now, an idea sprung forth from an older necessity-driven idea, the chuckwagon. It is a simple proposition, really: instead of the public going to a restaurant or diner to eat, the food comes to them. One could consider it the older cousin of straight-to-your-door food delivery.

In the later years of the nineteenth century, food trucks make their appearance in the streets of New York, selling simple, inexpensive, and easy to eat fare that could fill the stomach for a pittance compared to regular restaurant cuisine. These lunch wagons (“roach coaches” being the derogatory term for the not so sanitary examples) served hungry customers at regular hours as well as odd schedules, particularly the night shift.

The humble food truck has experienced a great resurgence all across the United States and the rest of the world. This time around, they’re not just serving low-budget, barely edible foodstuffs just to keep the customers’ stomachs filled; food trucks are at the cutting edge of modern cuisine, fearlessly exploring both old and new ways to prepare and serve food. This is no longer your grandfather’s idea of “street food.”

With the ever-growing demand for better-tasting and healthier organically-grown food, now may just be the time to throw your hat into the food business, and the food truck presents a lower barrier of entry, compared to that of a full-blown restaurant. Enumerated below are just a handful of reasons why you should consider starting a food truck business:

Mobility and Flexibility

This has to be the most obvious advantage of putting up a food truck eatery, especially when comparing it against a less-modular food stall or a full-blown diner or restaurant. There is almost no such thing as a slow business day for a food truck, for as long as there is a potential high customer traffic area within driving distance. Given the ascension of food trucks in terms of food quality and taste, the trend has actually been turned on its head; people are practically chasing their favorite food trucks.

Food trucks can easily change schedules to adapt to special occasions such as festivals, carnivals, fairs, and other outdoor events that bring in multitudes of hungry people.

Low Starting/Operating Costs

The small size of the food truck may limit the amount of customers it can serve at any one time, but the upside of that is that with the small crew and compact work and service area (most food trucks don’t even bother with tables and chairs), the maintenance costs won’t eat too much into the profits, either. Note that you still have to pay your dues to the cities and towns you operate in, just as any business establishment would.

Since this piece is supposed to encourage people to get into the business in the first place, consider that the biggest financial investments lie in the truck and the food preparation equipment installed within it. Reliable, albeit used freightliner trucks would make sufficient platforms for up-and-coming food truck business.

Gastronomical Freedom

Food trucks are adaptable in more ways than one. Since they are not mired by any requirements to adhere to any traditions or orthodox ways of preparing certain food, they are in the position to innovate. They can take the best dishes or methods from any number of food cultures, so long as it is easy to serve and consume, as street food should be. Fusion cuisines are very common among food truck circles, and this ensures a wealth of culinary variety for the customers.

Your limited menu can also be a boon to you when you start sourcing for your ingredients. You can opt to buy better-quality produce to supply your budding food business with, and your customers will definitely appreciate tastier and healthier food, thanks to premium ingredients. Go ahead and cater to a select group of eaters, for as long as you know where most of them are. All you have to do is drive on over there!

With these points, I hope more will embark in this exciting food enterprise!

People who usually dine out should be really careful about the foods they order. This is because depending on where they dine, they might not get a healthy meal as per their expectations. For people who are planning a night out and want to ensure they will enjoy a fabulous dinner, this article will focus on some of the foods they should and should not consider whilst dining out.

Meats

Meats have always been the subject of criticism and plenty of food experts recommend people stay away from them, especially from pork. In this regard, for those who absolutely need to eat meat when dining out, it's best to consider beef, chicken or turkey and stay well away from pork. It is a very well-known fact that pork contains a lot of toxins and on top of that, it may also contain plenty of fat. Individuals who care about their weight and don't want to have food which will be hard to digest and also full of toxins should stay away from eating pork, regardless of how it's cooked.

Chicken

Most of the times when people dine out in a restaurant, they like to order chicken. In this regard, if they want to eat it in a healthy way, they should ask for a chicken breast which should first of all be boiled and then browned in a pan with no oil added. Adding some soy sauce and maybe some greens as seasoning will ensure it is a healthy option whilst maintaining its great taste. However, if this is not enough, some vegetables, like broccoli, tomatoes and cucumbers which have been previously cooked in their own natural juices are very much recommended.

No pizzas

Yes, some restaurants do have pizzas and they are certainly not a healthy option to consider. They contain plenty of fat and on top of that, can cause indigestion or stomach cramps, depending on what kind of pizza you order. It's better to stay away from them completely, especially if people have problems with their cholesterol, as it will increase it.

Last but not least, anything made out of vegetables or fruits should be a healthy option for anyone who is pursuing a healthy lifestyle. A fruit salad with no extra cream or some vegetables cooked in their own natural juices and nothing else, are certainly some of the healthiest foods to consider. They are delicious, easy to digest and very nutritious.

A majority of people avoid visiting dentists on a regular basis due to various reasons and one of them is just simple fear. But, one needs to understand how important it is in today's day and age to at least visit a dentist every six months. Regular dental visits are essential in maintaining a healthy set of teeth and gums. During these visits your dentist will be able to keep your teeth healthy and clean, thus preventing any major health scare.

Gums that are swollen and receding are a sign of diabetes. Even soreness in your mouth can lead to oral cancer. All these symptoms may or may not lead to serious health problems, but your dentist can tell from the symptoms whether you will require any more tests and treatments. This is only possible if you visit your dentist on a regular basis for dental check-ups. It has been observed that people suffering from type 1 and type 2 diabetes generally suffer from gum disease due to the decrease in their ability to fight infections in their mouth. Frequent abscesses from the gums, swelling of the gums and any disease affecting the gums are possible signs of diabetes. Once detected your dentist may be able to treat the root cause of the problem effectively.

The other major health scare that can be identified through regular dental visits is oral cancer. The symptoms of oral cancer include small white or red sores in the mouth and these sores can appear on the lips, gums, tongue and other regions in your mouth. By visiting your dentist regularly one can detect and treat any potential cancerous lesions early on. Oral cancer is one such disease that generally goes undetected early until we visit a dentist on a regular basis.

Research has also found out that periodontal diseases can lead to bacterial infections leading to heart attacks, strokes or even pneumonia. This is because the inflammation in the mouth increases the risk of inflammation in the arteries leading to stroke and heart attacks. It has been observed that more than 100 medical conditions can be detected early by visiting a dentist on regular basis. Even pregnant women need to visit a dentist because hormonal changes during pregnancy increase the risk of developing gingivitis. Timely care and attention can prevent serious health problems. Any change in the mouth during pregnancy needs to be addressed immediately and should not be taken lightly. Preventive dental check-ups during pregnancy can help in improving the overall health of the mother as well as the child.

A healthy gum is a sign of a healthy heart, so do not take your oral health for granted. Your mouth requires proper care and attention and this is possible only by a dentist. It is high time you realize the importance of professional dental care to prevent any major health scare. A dentist will be able to detect poor oral hygiene and provide you with proper guidance to help achieve good overall oral as well as general well-being.

Fashion Model Anna Selezneva

It is important to choose the right cosmetic surgeon no matter what type of plastic surgery you might be considering. The success of your cosmetic surgery can be determined by choosing the right professional cosmetic surgeon. Searching for the right plastic surgeon is not an easy affair and therefore you need to follow the guidelines we have provided in this review. You cannot underestimate the importance of learning about your physician if a cosmetic procedure has been recommended.

No matter how simple or small it may seem, if the surgery is more than a basic procedure, it should be handled with care and can only be performed by a certified surgeon. You must be careful because many doctors perform cosmetic procedures without being certified by health boards. Some of these doctors have little or no experience in plastic surgery. Regardless of the trust you have in them to do it right, a board certification is vital for any physician to perform a cosmetic procedure.

a.) Get the names of cosmetic surgeons within your area

The first goal is to get the names of good surgeons in your area. Once you have the names you can ask your friends if they know someone who had a procedure similar to the one you are considering so that you can talk to them. You should not decide on the surgeon based on what your friend's experience. Your surgeon must be well trained and experienced in performing plastic surgery. Remember every patient is unique and therefore the surgery results will be different. You can also consult with your family doctor in helping to recommend the right cosmetic surgeon.

b.) Check the surgeon credentials

Once you have completed compiling doctors' list, you should check their credentials. It is important to know the type of training the doctor has received. Check if the surgeon has successfully completed their accredited residency program particularly in plastic surgery. This program includes more than 2 years of intensive training specifically in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures which is preceded by more than three years of training in the field of surgery after attending a medical school. Cosmetic surgeons with a comprehensive background have a solid foundation. All patients are advised to choose a doctor certified by a board of plastic surgery. It's also important to know if the doctor will perform the surgery at their own facility and if they have privileges to perform it at an accredited hospital.

c.) Seek for an interview/consultation

Once you have narrowed down your list to 2 or 3 doctors, you can visit them for a consultation. This will help you to compare their personalities, fees, opinions on the surgery and any other answers to your questions. Keep in mind that you might be required to pay some consultation fees whether you choose a particular surgeon or not. Do not be afraid to ask any questions you have no matter how personal or trivial they may sound.

d.) Make your choice

If you have identified the right cosmetic surgeon and you have realistic expectations, there are high chances that you will be happy with the surgery outcome. Remember your safety and results should be your main priorities. Please do not confuse value with price.

Gum recession is a common phenomenon characterized by a gum line that recedes, or pulls back, revealing more of the surface of one’s teeth. Gum recession is one of the most common oral health conditions. However, because it is slow to progress over time, many people are unaware that they are afflicted with it until the recession becomes noticeable.

Are Your Gums In a Recession?

When gum recession occurs, gum tissue or gingiva that covers and protects part of the tooth has begun to wear away. The gum line, normally seen as a fairly straight line across the row of teeth, begins to appear jagged as the worn tissue leads to visual exposure of more of the enamel surface of each tooth. To the person undergoing this change, his or her teeth may appear more elongated than before. Another sign of gum recession may be heightened tooth sensitivity once the roots of the teeth are exposed.

How Does This Happen?

A number of factors can play a role in the cause of gum recession. Negligence in routine dental care, such as inadequate brushing or failure to obtain regular dental cleanings and examinations, can pave the way for gum recession. Plaque that has built up on the tooth enamel and calcified into tartar can push along the gum line, causing it to recede. The bacteria that cause infectious periodontal disease can destroy gum tissue. Conversely, overzealous tooth brushing that is too rough or too fast can also cause wear and tear on tooth enamel as well as gum tissue.

Female hormonal fluctuations that occur during puberty, pregnancy and menopause can increase a woman’s propensity for gum disease and recession. Genetic predisposition can also influence an individual’s chances of susceptibility to gum disease and recession.

Tooth grinding, clenching or misalignment can place excess wear on the teeth, gums and the supporting bone that holds the teeth in place, leading to gum recession.

Periodontal Perils

Gum recession often serves as the prelude for more serious periodontal disease. As the gingiva shrinks back with gum recession, gaps and folds known as pockets result within the gum, creating a haven for harmful bacteria to accumulate and fester. If left untreated, this will ultimately lead to infections and abscesses, bone decay and tooth loss. Bacteria also enter the bloodstream to target such organs as the heart and the kidneys, thus compromising one’s overall health.

Treatment Options

Fortunately, gum recession can be treated through various oral procedures. When diagnosed early, milder cases are usually addressed with a deep cleaning called a tooth scale and root plane. This procedure involves removal of plaque and tartar from the entire tooth including the roots. The teeth are then smoothed, making the surface less receptive to bacteria.

Advanced stages of gum recession may need to be treated with oral surgery. There are several surgical procedures that may be performed. A pocket-depth reduction begins with incisions to expose the pockets. Bacteria are removed, the gum is resituated to reduce the pockets and to cover the roots of the teeth, and the incisions are closed with sutures. Other surgical options involve bone regeneration and soft tissue graft procedures.

Recession Prevention

The most effective way to prevent gum recession is to practice a complete dental health regimen that includes flossing and tooth brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush daily, as well as regular visits to a dentist (such as College Station Dentists) at his or her recommended intervals.

Diligent dental care will go a long way to preserving your gums, keeping your teeth, maintaining your smile, and improving your overall health.

Between family parties and braving shopping malls, the holidays are often a hectic time of the year. For most, it is a good sort of hectic, filled with smiles and happy memories. For others, however, the holidays are a hard time, filled with anxiety and tears. For many, who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD or grief, these feelings occur all the time. For others, however, these blues occur in the winter. Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a well-recognized disorder that affects millions each year. While there is still no cure, effective treatments can help sufferers of Seasonal Affective Disorder continue living in spite of the disorder.

The first question to ask is "Do I have Seasonal Affective Disorder?" To answer this, you must first take an inventory of symptoms. In patients with SAD, symptoms begin in late October or early November and end in late March or early April. Other symptoms of SAD include cravings for carbohydrate-rich foods like potato chips or sweets, increased appetite, low energy level, increased need for sleep, inability to concentrate and low sex-drive.

Once that is done, if you do feel you have SAD, you need to make an appointment with a mental health provider who is knowledgeable in the treatment of SAD. Blood work is usually done at the first visit to rule out any disorders that present in a similar manner. Because SAD is caused by a lack of serotonin, anti-depressants, such as Zoloft or Celexa, are sometimes prescribed as well.

Continuing to build the relationship with your provider can prove helpful in many other ways. These professionals are able to monitor progress better, provide encouragement and recommend alternative treatments. Medications also need to be monitored and adjusted over time.

Getting an appropriate amount of sleep is also helpful. Try to get to bed at roughly the same time every night and wake at the same time. Limit the number of other activities you do in bed.

Serotonin levels can be increased by a change of diet. Ensuring that the diet contains plenty of protein and ample, but not too many carbohydrates is important. Turkey and other foods containing tryptophan can help with serotonin production as can nuts, fatty fish and foods rich in magnesium and vitamin B-6. For vegetarians, bananas and avocados are also tich in tryptophan.

Exercise is another way to ensure appropriate serotonin production. Unfortunately, the winter often makes this difficult. Yoga and other stretching exercises have been shown to reduce stress and increase mood. These activities can also be done indoors. Getting a gym membership or indoor pool pass is another effective way to exercise during winter months.

If it is feasible, hiring a personal trainer can be helpful because it builds motivation and provides a reason to stick with the workout routine. A trainer also provides their client with a workout that is challenging. They also continue to build the challenge as time goes on.

Even though it is cold it is a good idea to get outside. If the roads are clear take a short walk. If it is snowy, build a snowman or snow angels. Have a snowball fight. Chances are good, this will also make you laugh, further raising serotonin levels.

Some people also plan a winter get-away. Visiting a sunny spot can help rebuild serotonin stores. Try to plan this trip for midway through the affected period.

Many people with SAD find light therapy to be the single most effective treatment. A physician needs to prescribe this therapy as it is not for everyone. Persons with photosensitivity, including those taking psoriasis medications, certain antibiotics and other medications that cause sensitivity to light, should never use light therapy. Diabetics should also be cautious due to their increased risk for macular degeneration.

Light therapy uses a full-spectrum, high intensity light bulb with the power of 20 or more common light bulbs. It is placed above the line of vision. The patient uses it for up to an hour, often in the morning. Relief should begin immediately.

The final tip, which is good advice for everyone who is suffering during the holidays, is to keep up routines and traditions. Even if you don't feel like it, you should visit family and friends. Attend church, go to the theater and bake cookies with the kids. Doing these things will take your mind off the disorder and also help build memories for the future.

Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all treatment. Each patient and their doctor must work to find the perfect blend of therapies. With some trial and error, a blend of diet and exercise, plus medications and light therapy, can bring relief. Travelling can also help refill the serotonin tanks. It is also important to remember that the spring will come and with it, relief.

Body building training is indeed very important for your health since it helps to ensure that all your body organs function properly. However, injuries may occur in the training process. One of the sure ways of avoiding injuries is by following the instructions provided by your instructor to the letter. Here are some additional injury prevention steps that you can use to achieve the full benefits from your work out.

Tip 1: This entails purchasing top quality equipment which will be required. You may choose to join a gym facility instead of buying your own personal equipment.

Tip 2: Cramps are usually experienced by people who have a meal at least 30 minutes before the work out. Of course, you should not exercise on an empty stomach but you need to eat at a recommended time. It is wise to consume food which can supply the required energy at least 40 minutes before your training session in order to give your body enough time to digest the food. Ensure that your body has enough fluids by taking enough water before and after the exercise.

Tip 3: Warm Up- This helps to prepare the body for the body building activity. In addition, it helps to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood stream and this in turn helps in preventing muscle soreness. An example of a good warm up can entail five sit ups and five push ups. You may include squats or stretch your torso if need be.

Tip 4: If you prefer lifting weights, ensure that you are comfortable with the selected weights. However, the weights should be heavy enough so they train and increase your muscles. Formulate a work out plan that you can repeat each and every day which will help in achieving consistency.

Tip 5: It is recommended to work out for at least 30 minutes continuously before taking a break. This helps to reduce your heart rate as well as rejuvenate the body muscles in preparation for the next exercise.

Tip 6: After the successful completion of your training exercise, you should take a hot shower which will help to relax your muscles. Warm baths help in soothing any sore muscles as well as expand muscles and blood arteries in the major areas. This in turn helps to foster the release of any acids which develop and accumulate in the muscles. The Increased circulation of blood helps to boost the rate at which the body converts stored fat to energy.

Tip 7: This is perhaps one of the most important steps that each person who wishes to take part in a body building activity has to adhere to. You should wear protective clothing such as gloves, the right attire and shoes in order to avoid injuries. For example, the right running shoes will help prevent joint injuries as well as pains.

Tip 8: If you intend to exercise indoors using a treadmill, be sure to read and understand the user's manual provided by the manufacturer which will help in operating the equipment correctly.

Finally, only train in an environment that favours a particular exercise which will help in minimizing the chances of injuries occurring.

It’s never easy watching the ones you love become unable to care for themselves. They may become forgetful or clumsy, putting themselves at risk of falls and other injuries. The stress and time that needs to be spent looking after an elderly relative can really take its toll, especially if there are health problems to take into consideration. Home health care could be a solution that lets your loved one stay independent at home for much longer, and bring you the peace of mind that you need.

Staying Home

No one wants to put a loved one in a nursing or care home, and no one wants to be uprooted and placed in an unfamiliar place to be “forgotten.” Thankfully there are alternatives, including in-home care by trained professionals, that will keep you or a loved one at home safely for longer. Home health aides provide services such as occupational and physical therapies, speech therapy, and skilled nursing.

The aides can monitor the elderly patients for changes in health that can be treated at home immediately, or have them seen by a doctor. 　Having your loved one’s health constantly monitored means that problems can be detected early and treated promptly, making them less likely to escalate into more serious conditions.

What a Home Health Aide Does

Home health care primarily addresses a person’s medical and health needs in order to keep them living independently in their own home for as long as possible. Not every patient will be able to stay at home for the same length of time, but those who have home health services are usually able to remain there for longer than those who don’t and are simply put into a nursing home or other facility.

Choosing Caregivers

The types of people who work as home health aides are usually registered nurses and therapists, but they may work for an independent agency rather than a hospital or doctor’s office. There are a few things you can do to ensure that you get the best caregivers for your loved one at home.

·Check references. Ask for referrals from people you know who have used the company personally.

·Check for a “Patient’s Bill of Rights” or other document that makes clear exactly what rights your loved one has and the agency’s responsibility to you and your loved one.

·Find out what screening and background checks are used on employees and what will happen should your designated caregiver be unable to provide care for any reason.

·Know what the costs are going to be, whether insurance plans or Medicare are accepted, and whether they are an approved Medicare provider. Do they offer payment assistance or sliding scale fees?

·Can the agency be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Take the time to find home health care that you and your loved one feel comfortable with. After all, it could make all the difference in keeping them happy, and safely, at home for longer.

You need fertilizer to help your plants and your flowers grow. However, most store-bought brands are loaded with harmful chemicals that will eventually find their way into the food you are growing. You can easily get the fertilizer you need to help your plants grow without the toxic side effects by making your own organic compost.

Making your own organic compost is not difficult. You can make it with things that are already in your house and your yard, and it is much better for your plants than any variety you could buy in the store. Here's how you can make your own organic compost:

Buy or Build a Compost Bin

First, you need a place to create your compost. You can buy bins from the hardware store, or you can build one yourself from some scrap lumber. Your bin needs to have solid sides (no chicken wire or pallets) and a cover. While you can just throw your compost materials into an open heap and eventually get compost, the process will take much longer and will be vulnerable to pests if you don't choose an enclosed bin.

The bottom of your bin should be completely open and resting directly on soil. You need to place your bin in a sunny location that is not in the path of runoff.

Add Your Materials

Compost requires two things: "Green" materials and "brown" materials. Green materials are rich in nitrogen, and brown materials are rich in carbon, both of which are necessary to create compost. Examples of green materials include:

Grass clippings

Weeds

Kitchen scraps, including fruit and vegetable waste

Tea bags and coffee grounds

Examples of brown materials include:

Dead leaves

Straw

Dead flowers and plants from your garden

Newspaper

Cardboard

Sawdust and wood shavings

It is best not to compost meat scraps or pet waste. You may add some worms to your mix to speed up the composting process, but it is not necessary.

Tend Your Compost

You need not do anything to your compost pile in order for it to become the rich, black, nurturing substance that you need to help your plants grow beautifully. However, to keep your pile composting in a timely fashion, you can help it along by turning the mix with a pitchfork or shovel and watering it about once a week. This will help keep the materials mixed and crate the right balance to encourage the composting process. At the end of a few weeks or months, you should be able to scoop some rich compost from the bottom of the pile.

Composting is not only better for your garden, it's better for the environment. You can put the scraps and waste from your kitchen and your home to good use instead of sending them to the landfill. In the process, you create delicious, home-grown food that is organic and loaded with nutrients.

Understanding the difference between organic meat and non-organic meat is imperative for making informed decisions about the foods we eat.

Organic animals are not allowed to be given antibiotics, any genetically engineered drugs, or bovine human growth hormone (rbGH), a drug that artificially increases milk production in cattle.

Over half of the antibiotics fed to mass-produced farm animals, including chickens, are the same ones prescribed to human beings. It has been well publicized lately in the media that the overuse of antibiotics is leading to super strains of bacteria that are growing resistant to antibiotics. This is creating a wide opening for human diseases that potentially won't be helped with the antibiotics currently available.

Organically raised animals are not allowed to eat genetically modified foods

.GMOs are genetically modified organisms whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. For example, scientists have been able to splice fish genes into tomatoes, producing the trait of a more freeze-resistant tomato. While this may sound good in theory, virtually nothing is known of the consequences of these laboratory creations. In addition to not being fed GMOs, an animal that is certified as organic cannot itself have had its genes modified in any way. By eating 100 percent organic meat you are protected by a label insuring the cow has only been fed 100 percent organic feed.

Organic meat has fewer toxins.

Choosing organic meat significantly reduces the risk that you'll be exposed to toxins, including the toxin that causes mad cow disease. If cattle are fed the dead remains of other cattle, this forced cannibalism can cause mad cow disease, a deadly disease that affects the brain. It is similar to chronic wasting disease in deer. Humans who eat the meat of an infected cows can contract this disease, which is called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. It is incurable and always fatal.

Organic farms are pesticide-free farms, so the animals raised on them are not routinely exposed to pesticides.

Organic meat is healthier meat.

Organically raised animals have more Omega-3 fatty acids and more antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin E, as the animals are grazing in the pasture, get a more diverse diet than conventionally raised animals who receive feed. Organically raised animals have been shown to be significantly healthier physically than their factory-raised counterparts, and they pass those health benefits on to us when we consume them.

Organic meat is happier meat.

The mass-produced chickens you find at the grocery stores are inhumanely raised in cramped quarters, where they can’t even turn around, cages stacked atop one another. Chickens can live their entire lives with their feet never even touching the ground! This creates stress in the chickens that can lead to diseases and the need for antibiotics. Stressed growing conditions cause stressed chickens, marinated with an abundance of stress hormones.

Organic, free-range chickens have plenty of room to roam and hunt and peck for a thoroughly natural diet. Thriving in a stress-free environment, this makes all the difference in the world in terms of their health and tastiness to you.

While cattle can be fed organic grains, and still produce organic beef, organically raised cattle are typically grass-fed. Cattle do not naturally eat grains in the wild. They eat only grass and other foraged foods throughout their lives. They get fresh air and sunshine. They have a better quality of life compared to their unfortunate "factory" counterparts.

Commercially raised cattle eat a diet consisting primarily of corn silage, which is not their natural food choice. They are often raised in confinement, in filthy conditions, and injected with growth hormones, so they can be slaughtered quicker.

The best choice is clearly the organic choice.

Clutter in the kitchen can lead to mental clutter while you're trying to cook a healthy dinner, especially if you're stuck with a tiny kitchen. Eliminate the clutter to give yourself more space to make healthy decisions about dining. Start with these four tips to gain a fresh perspective on your kitchen and your overall diet.

Reduce Clutter

If you're like most home cooks, you've probably got a collection of utensils, pots and pans and skillets that doesn't really match your needs. Maybe you've been holding on to everything you've bought since college, or a collection of roommates has left behind equipment you keep for those "just in case" times. Start with an equipment cleanse to reduce what you don't need. First eliminate equipment that's damaged, such as utensils with melt marks or lids that don't fit pans. Throw out nonstick pots that are damaged, as they release chemicals when heated. While nonstick equipment requires less oil, the experts go back and forth over the larger health and safety implications　of using it. Don't forget to reduce utensil clutter by getting rid of items you never or rarely use. Do you really need a special utensil for serving pasta or can you make do with the same tongs you use for cooking meat? Once you've finished cleaning, list out what you plan to keep and donate equipment in usable condition to a local thrift store or charity.

Inexpensive Storage For Spices- Baby Jars With Chalkboard Painted Lids

From Frugal Decor Mom

Practical Pieces

While it might cost more to buy a set of cookware, you'll find this often saves space. Since sets are made to be compatible, they're more likely to stack and to share lids. This cuts down on the amount of equipment you'll need to store. While sets do store well, only purchase one if you're likely to use all of its pieces. You don't want to store saucepans and nesting skillets that you'll never need. In general, flat pieces are also more practical than large or deep pieces and store more easily. If faced with a choice between a large piece like a wok and a large flat skillet, choose flat.

Healthy Cookware

Compare your list of keepers with the type of equipment you'll actually use for healthy eating. For example, baking meats is a healthier cooking method than pan-frying or sautéing. Do you have baking dishes and cookie sheets for baking fish and chicken? Likewise, crock-pots allow you to cook healthy soups and stews while you're at work and require low oil. If you don't have these items, add these pieces to your list. If you find yourself in a "this or that" situation, think about which piece is healthier and use that to decide.

Storage Tips

As part of your practical thinking, consider storage options. If you're short on cupboard space, can you use a pot rack to store some pieces overhead? Can you purchase a kitchen island with storage options beneath the cutting surface? Include utensil storage in your shopping to stay organized and save space.

This can seem like a lot to do, but you'll feel like you've got so much more space in that tiny kitchen when you're done! If cooking has become a chore, treat yourself by dedicating a weekend to sprucing up your kitchen.

If you have checked the news recently, no doubt you have noticed it is not the best time to be living in New York or other parts of the East Coast.

Back in October, just before the presidential election, residents of New York and Long Island were graced with the presence of Superstorm Sandy, a monster of a hurricane that dealt utter destruction and flooding to low-lying coastal areas.

Just as residents began to recover from Sandy, along came a blizzard that dealt anywhere from a foot of snow in the Manhattan area to three feet of snow along Long Island and up towards Boston.

According to The New York Times, $82 billion in damage was spread among three states alone (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut), and Congress was slow to approve a $60 billion emergency-aid package. It will take plenty of time for this money to work its way through the system and red tape and get to the places where it is needed most.

It seems as if the crosshairs of Mother Nature are trained on New England as of late. If it isn’t a hurricane or a bunch of rain causing floods, it is a big blizzard. These storms do not just waltz in and waltz out over a period of one day, either. The long-lasting effects from these storms continued for days and weeks to come.

Hurricane Sandy impacted retail with a two-pronged attack. The first prong came as retail experienced a temporary surge when customers came to get huge amounts of groceries to get them through the storm. Retail then slacked off as customers in the affected hurricane area concentrated on getting their lives back together. Christmas gifts and shopping could wait, they said.

Industries not hit hard by Sandy, and even some that suffered storm effects, were very quick to mobilize. Donations came pouring in to help in the rebuilding parts of the economy, to the tune of over $140 million. The Business Civic Leadership Center was quick to note all the companies to step forward and offer charitable assistance.

As far as transportation, the blizzard did not impact New England except for a rare executive order from Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick to keep all cars off the roads during the storm. Sandy was a different story. Flights all across the country with New York as a takeoff or destination point were affected for several days. Train transportation was affected through the storm-battered areas.

Homes on the peninsula in the southern sector of New York City, where there was just one entrance to the neighborhood, were destroyed and traffic was prohibited for days, if not weeks, while the cleanup went on. Many cars at auto dealers were damaged and some were shipped out. This has caused people to be concerned that cars are being sold that were damaged in Sandy, much like Katrina in 2005 in New Orleans.

As for energy, since the Northeast is in a heavy power grid the effects of Sandy were felt immediately. Over 10 million homes lost power in the affected area, and some homes were not restored for several days. In the New England blizzard over 900,000 homes saw their electricity go out. Anyone dissatisfied with the performance of their power company during the storm may have been encouraged to look on http://www.newyorkenergyrates.com/ for other companies’ rates. If storm-affected residents didn’t live in New York and their state was deregulated, then other choices were offered to them.

It may be another several years before we see a storm the size of Sandy. The transportation, industrial and energy grids may be up to 100 percent before then.

Even so, the lessons from this storm may help the nation be ready for the next superstorm that comes along.

Everyone spending time in a gym will encounter the inevitable question, “how much do you bench?” The bench press is an important and powerful exercise, and you should consider the benefits of establishing a workout routine that includes the bench press.

Benefits

To profit from an exercise program, you must lift heavy things. Lifting heavy things requires a lot of force and works a lot of muscle. The bench press is ideal for this purpose. Pressing heavy weight from your chest activates the more forceful, fast twitch muscles in your chest, shoulders and arms.

One of the greatest benefits from bench pressing is the metabolic effect of lifting heavy weight with a large portion of your muscle groups. The more forceful a muscle fiber, (like those in your chest,) the greater the metabolic benefit from working the muscle. Lifting heavy on the bench press is effective at triggering the hormonal reaction that burns fat and builds lean muscle mass. This is the same hormonal response that will give you the look of athletic fitness and health.

An obvious benefit of bench pressing is building upper body strength and power. Pressing those heavy weights off the chest activates and builds strength in the muscles in the upper-half of the body. Bench pressing can increase strength for better pushups, and as upper body strength grows, so does power, which is a key measure of athletic fitness. Lifting heavy weights also improves bone density, which can extend health and fitness into your later years. Even running benefits from bench pressing because your chest helps pump and swing your arms for more powerful strides.

Muscles Worked

The bench press is a compound exercise, which means it works more than one muscle group. Many muscles add their strength and power to assist in moving weight off your chest: you will use your pectorals, deltoids, trapezius, abdominals, and forearms and hands. Your pectorals, or chest muscles, are the primary muscles involved in the bench press and are the more noticeable muscle group in someone who works consistently at the bench press. Allowing for fuller development, the upper and lower pectoral muscles can be worked with varying emphasis by changing the pressing angle.

Shoulder muscles are involved whenever the arm is lifted, and in pressing while lying flat, the arms are extended from your chest engaging the deltoids and trapezius. The deltoids are three distinct muscles on the front, side and rear of the shoulder, while the trapezius muscles are on top of the shoulders. Most of the load in a bench press is upon the muscles in front of the shoulder.

The muscles in the arm assist in bench pressing, with the major work being done by the triceps muscles. The triceps are grouped in three muscles on the back of the arm and are used to extend the elbow and help push weight off the chest. To a lesser degree, the biceps muscles are used stabilizing the weight when extended. Another stabilizing muscle group is the abdominals. Core strength is key to stabilizing the body and providing the foundation for all power in the bench press.

Results

The bench press is a fantastic; compound exercise for any fitness program and any ability level. You will develop strength and power, achieve a higher overall fitness level, lose fat and gain muscle. With a consistent exercise program of three days per week for eight-week cycles, you will achieve your fitness goals, feel better and look great.
If you are like a lot of people, you want and need to be more active. Even if you have the best ergonomic chair in your office, sitting in it for nine hours a day isn’t the best thing for your body. A sedentary job or lifestyle is a risk factor for obesity, cardiovascular disease, kidney stones, deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), diabetes, depression and anxiety. Busy daily living makes building an indoor fitness center an ideal solution to your need for increased physical activity that is economical, convenient and close at hand.

Location

One of the most important aspects of your fitness center or home gym is location. You need a dedicated space for exercise equipment. A spare bedroom, large section of the basement or even a corner of your garage can all be transformed into your indoor fitness center. Choose a location that will fit all the equipment you plan to put there, preferably somewhere convenient but still out of the way to provide some privacy, with natural light if possible. If the space you have to use for your fitness center is dark or dingy, lighten it up by painting the walls a light color and adding bright lighting.

Flooring

The floor in your indoor fitness center is an important feature for your comfort and convenience. If you are setting up in a garage or basement with a cement floor, thick rubber matting makes your space easier on the joints and the eyes. If your space has ceramic tiled floors, bamboo mats or thick area rugs will warm up the space and give you some traction during activities.

Equipment

Your fitness plans and your budget will determine what kind of equipment you use to set up your fitness center. Good exercise equipment to consider includes treadmills, exercise bikes, steppers, weights and punching bags. New treadmills and steppers cost between $500 and $2,500, depending on the features that are included. New exercise bikes cost between $300 and $1,500, also depending on features included. Weights and weight machines vary greatly in pricing, depending on whether you prefer weight sets and benches or weight resistance machines. A punching bag with a stand can cost around $375. Budget-conscious fitness center builders can look for good quality used fitness equipment.

Accessories

A few key pieces of fitness equipment are the foundation of your indoor fitness center, but you’ll want accessories in your exercise space to make it more attractive and to be able to vary your activities. Add ambiance to your space with a few large houseplants like palms and ferns, a few wall to ceiling mirrors and a music station to play your favorite jams while working out. Fitness accessories you may want to add include an exercise or yoga mat, boxing gloves or knuckle protectors if you use a punching bag, a TV with a DVD player to play your favorite workout videos or watch your favorite shows while working out and dumbbells and fitness bands.

Tips for Building Your Indoor Fitness Center

Before you purchase any fitness equipment or accessories, make a plan. Choose and prepare your space, make a list of equipment you want, and review your budget. Talk to friends and family about their fitness activities and favorite equipment. Compare prices and sales on the fitness equipment you want before purchase.

Authored By Dave Webb

One of the big chips in the progress of the Human Species is medicine. With successful medicine comes an increase in the aged population of the planet. Everyone of these aged individuals takes up space. A lot of them have no useful productive use anymore. A lot of them require expensive nursing facilities to survive. A lot of them have aging diseases such as Alzheimer disease. All of them eat food until they eventually succumb to one disease or another. In effect, we all age, we all deteriorate, and eventually we all die. I don't care if you are worth 2 cents or 200 billion dollars. The same rules apply to all of us.

How we handle this problem of aging populations is going to take genius level intelligence. Most likely that will not be found in government leadership. I refer to all government, not just the government here.

The maximum amount of time given us on this planet is very variable. I think the maximum age of any individual on this planet in modern times has been 126 years and that is not documented very well. The Bible says 120 years is the maximum and I believe that might be a better answer.

Industry generally gives up on people at the age of 62-70 years of age. Though a lot of modern companies try to get rid of their people at around the age of 50. These companies use a legal ploy of making people re-qualify for jobs they have done all their lives with additional qualifications thrown in to make sure they cannot qualify for the job they are actually doing.

This leaves us all with a huge social and financial problem of taking care of these individuals. It is illegal to discriminate against someone because of their age. So is traveling on an interstate at over 65 miles an hour. Neither law is very effective in doing its job.

Money talks. Companies have fleets of lawyers to protect them when they do something illegal.

Old people are discriminated against by modern companies. Until that changes, a lot of people are going to float until they reach minimum retirement age. There is a lot of talk in the Congress of increasing the minimum age for people to get Social Security. This will simply change the logistics of welfare. Translated: A whole lot of older people will have to resort to the welfare system to make it until they reach minimum age for a pension. A whole lot of people are going to be out of luck.

Medicine is holding out on the common person. There is medicine for the common people and then there is medicine for the rich. The medicine for the rich is often able to postpone the aging process if the rich participate in this medicine. It is not cheap.

What is aging? That is the question asked by people over the ages. Well, we now know a whole lot more about it than we did just 20 years ago.

We are all born with a clock in our cells. This clock contains an enormous amount of data about what makes us tick. From the time we are conceived until the time that we are born, we metabolize. In the various stages of pregnancy, a fetus resembles a whole lot of critters. In this process, there is a total of about 15,000 strands containing data about what makes you and I what we are at birth. It has been estimated that 10,000 of those strands go away between conception and birth. This is all hearsay on my part from papers I have read on this process. It is against my principles to use big words if small words will work. So I won't go into the technical jargon used. I leave that to scientists and witch doctors, both of which try to mystify things with big words.

So, from the time we are born and until the time we die, we have approximately 5-6 thousand strands to work with. Each time a cell reproduces the number of these data strands decreases. Normally when we are left with 2,000 of these strands or less, we die.

I think this aging solution to old life is a mutation of some kind. If you had asked me just 2 weeks ago if it was universal, I would have said yes. Then I happened on a program on oceans and the life in them. Some Coral plants in our deep oceans, live to be 10,000 years or more. The scientists did not say why they lived that long but I can guess.

The oceans protect them against casual radiation in the environment.

They have resolved the strand elimination problem and reproduce with the same number of strands each time.

They have no natural enemies at that depth to kill them off.

The environment gives them some vital nutrition we do not get on the surface.

By coincidence, the ancient Indian documents describe Coral as the key to changing someone into an immortal. There are over 2,000 to 3,000 varieties of Coral on this planet. The medical society of ancient India kept it a deep dark secret which coral plant worked to retard aging. No one knows which one it was they used. We do know it involved a risky prescription that if it was off measure it killed the person instead of making them immortal. We may never know. All the immortals that took the medicine have been killed in our prehistory. They are all gone. Rumor is there was somekind of Nuclear War between China and India in the prehistory. So no one knows how to reproduce this medicine and make it work. Supposedly it had to be taken at puberty. That is in the documents we do have that science today ignores as superstition.

What we need is medicine that restores the quality of life. That means we need something that will keep us young and flexible even though we age. Then our experience will make us a better candidate for employment than the younger generation that is pushing us aside. The really old people don't want to work anymore. They are too tired.

The real problem is that people lose their ability to change with aging. They are not able to keep up with the technologies and the new ways of doing things. So they lose to the up coming generation.

What is happening to old people will happen to young people in time. That is what most of these bright young executives seem to over look. What happens now to us, happens down the road to them.

We all think the rules do not apply to us. That is until it catches up with us. So if you are a bright young congress person, realize that it will catch up with you eventually. Though the age of the Congress in power on critical committees seems to be old people. The same goes for all executives in our Corporations as a lot of middle managers have all ready found out.

One of the critical problems with us is we are constantly bombarded by radiation of various types. None of which is critical radiation poisoning in the short term. But in the long term it is all accumulative and it catches up with us.

If you are old, take off your clothes in a bathroom mirror and check your skin. Which skin on your body is all wrinkled and old? Is it the skin you cover with clothing? Or the skin that is constantly exposed? Or both?

We know what we know about aging more by accident than by purpose. It was a cloned sheep that taught us about the clock. The sheep rapidly aged to the age of the cell it was cloned from. Then it aged naturally. So scientists took the cells from the clone and figured out the difference was the strands.

Oxygen is necessary for our life. It also rusts the body out. So things that slow that process down should slow down the aging process itself. We now have chemicals to do that.

Nature provides for slowing the aging process by slowing the reproduction of cells. Resvertal is one such chemical that slows the aging process in people. Calorie restriction has proven to slow aging.

Our glands slowly quit working the way they should. A lot of people have thyroid problems. The master gland is in the brain. It sends DHEA messages to the rest of the endoctrinal glands. It dramatically stops working around the age of 32. From then on it is down hill and a lot of aging occurs because that message center quits working right. This is a very slow process and goes unnoticed by most medical doctors because it is a normal aging process. The companies figure it has gotten terminal at age 50. That is why they want to get rid of experienced help at that age.

From 50 to 70 it is all down hill.

We all have a complete record of our strands built into our reproductive parts. That is why the clock starts over again when a baby is conceived. It gains a reshuffling of the data with the combination of the two people involved. But it does start over with a complete set of data. What if we could reset the clock on those strands to an earlier age?

Cancer is the great age mystery. You see when a cell becomes cancerous it often becomes immortal. The problem is in the process of no longer aging, the cancer cell loses its ability to function in the body. So eventually the cancer causes whatever organs it is part of to quit functioning which in turn causes the body to die. But what if we could retain the ability to function as part of the whole body with cancer cells without the cells continuing to age? It is not uncommon in tissue cultures for a cancer to live 12-14 times as long as a normal cell from the original animal.

The problem is what to do with all these old people? When they do figure out how to increase longevity of people as we have done in the last century of medical progress, our society has to come up with better answers than we have now. The current answer is to pension them off and let them rot. Eventually the problem goes away as we increase the mortality rate by simply letting them age until they die.

The Ponzi scheme called Social Security hasn't worked for a while now. You see for every old person that lived past the qualifying age of 65, most people died shortly thereafter. Modern medicine has changed those statistics. A lot of people now live up into their 70s, 80s, and even 90s. Some even make it to 110. The Ponzi scheme only worked when the majority of people did not collect it for very long. Our government spent the money for their pensions elsewhere. Now it is coming home and they have to explain why they do not have the money to support the old people that paid into it all their lives.

Lot of luck Congress, with explaining why you cannot support them . . . And it is not just Social Security anymore. All of the pension schemes are in trouble.

Right now if you go into any major retail chain with guards at the door, half of them will be retirees trying to supplement the pitiful amount of pension benefits they get.

With the progress that medicine is making in old age medicine, we are going to have to make a major adjustment in the way we treat old people.

No longer can old people fail to keep up with the technology and our times. That means new ways of teaching aimed at people that are not able to learn at the same rate as the young. It means a different attitude from everyone. It means giving people the opportunity to stay employed.

But even before we can do that, we have to bring all those jobs home that have left our shores. If our Congress had paid attention to the older generation they wouldn't be in the fix they are in today.

It means giving respect for the wisdom of those that came before us and learning the many things they might be able to teach us.

It means making our old people feel needed and useful.

More important it means going back to the ways that worked in generations past. It means being aware that giving away our country's wealth to other countries for short term gain has not worked.

We have an important turning of our economy if we are going to survive the coming economic destruction. A lot of our old people lived through it during the great depression of the 30s. They might have a lot to teach the younger generation about how to cope with it.

When you go hiking you often give importance to your hiking gear and shoes. You also make a checklist of what all you need to carry with you like first aid box and torch and camping equipment and so on. But you forget to give importance to the most essential part of hiking- that is food and water. Not many of us attach importance to our diet when we go to the mountains. I would like to stress here that food and water should be the most essential part of your hiking list.

I Go Organic when I hike

As a marathon runner my trainer advised me to go hiking to strengthen my thigh muscles. Thigh muscles and calf muscles play a vital part of running and so I decided to go hiking to the mountains to work them out. Since I hike for almost an hour or two the glycogen content in my body gets used up and what better way to store up glycogen by taking carbohydrates. A good carbohydrate diet consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, rice, potatoes and pasta, stores up the energy for me to expel during my hiking trips.

Eating small meals from time to time and a light supper the night before you hike will take 24 hours for the food to get processed. Hydrate with pure mineral water and you can also drink liquids consisting of electrolytes. As you sweat body loses salts. An electrolyte drink will help you to make up for the lost body salts.

Snack While You Walk

Cold sandwiches with salami, tuna slices, crackers and cheese and jerky will induce energy when you go back pack. An ideal meal will be oatmeal for breakfast, peanut butter sandwiches for lunch and Mac-n-cheese for dinner. These can induce energy while you hike. Instead of carrying tins, pack these in packets so that you can throw away the wrappers and lighten your back pack.

If your hiking expedition is for more than a few hours then you cannot survive on cold foods and snacks? After all you would like to eat a hot meal too? In that case a can of baked beans with steamed rice can taste like delicious gourmet while in the hills.

Enjoy Your Meals up the Hills

Trail mix of nuts, raisins, dried fruits, granola and chocolate can give instant energy. It is a mixture of carbohydrates, proteins and fats that aid to keep your energy levels high.

When you go hiking, bear in mind that your menu should be healthy, energy giving and nutritious to aid you in your climb. Taking mineral and vitamin supplements also help on your trail.

Avoid foods that are high in fiber and water. These foods are too heavy but lack calorie content. Remember that you need to intake at least 5000-6000 calories of foods per day. By selecting calorie dense foods that taste good and also nutritious, your hiking trip will not only be adventurous but also enjoyable!

As a marathon runner, Latasri has learnt about how to eat right while running. She also writes posts to help you out by reviewing certain sports stores. You can find many helpful reviews in her blog about stores with equipment for hiking and running.
