The Five Best Healthy Cooking Shows

Spread the love

Healthy eating is incredibly important, but I think many of us forget to do what’s right for our bodies and give it the fuel it needs without all of the bad stuff. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have something tasty and delicious just because we’re eating right. These five shows prove that you can eat healthily, and still get plenty of flavors.

Not My Mama’s Meals

A Cooking Channel original, host Bobby Deen (Paula’s son) takes his mother’s delicious Southern recipes and transforms them into leaner but still delicious meals. Using substitutions for some of the unhealthier ingredients, Bobby is able to keep the flavor while trimming down the calories. If you love Paula but can’t stand the calories, give Bobby’s show a shot. It’s definitely not his mama’s meals.

Some of Bobby’s meals include Beer Battered Fish and Roasted Fries and Bobby’s Light Banana Pudding.

Christina Cooks

A PBS show hosted by Chef Christina Pirello, the show focuses on a healthy Mediterranean style of cooking and features simple, organic ingredients. Christina took up healthy cooking after being diagnosed with terminal leukemia. She was diagnosed as being free and clear of leukemia a year and a half after starting her whole and organic food regimen. She has been passionate about cooking and sharing these foods ever since.

Some of Christina’s meals include Garbanzo, Baked Tofu and Eggplant Pita Sandwiches and Pasta with Hemp Pesto.

Kitchen Caravan

An online show hosted by Sophia Brittan and filmed by best friend Emma Piper-Burket, this show focuses on healthy eating in an Arabic, Greek and very Mediterranean way. It’s very spartan but meant to entertain, educate and inform viewers of the cultural diversities of food and how they can eat healthier and broaden their minds.

Some of their meals include Turkish Whole Wheat Pogacas and Aztec Stew.

Healthy Flavors

Another PBS show, host Jim Coleman lost 45 pounds and wants to show you how to eat healthy without sacrificing the flavors. The show actually brings on dieticians and various doctors to back up the science of eating healthy with tons of information. Chef Jim currently has his own line of gourmet mustards and ketchups.

Some of Jim’s meals include Chocolate Tofu Pie and Peanut Noodles with Flank Steak and Vegetables.

Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger

A Food Network production, Ellie Krieger shows you how to cook healthful, delicious food quickly. Having been a nutritionist, Ellie gives you recipes that work in the real world full of chaos and time-consuming moments. Full of tips on how to eat right at restaurants, in the office and on vacation, this is an excellent show for healthful eating and making the right substitutions.

Some of Ellie’s meals include White Chili and Chicken Parmesan.

While this is by no means a complete rundown of every healthy eating show out there or a listing of every recipe offered by the above, hopefully this will get you started in the right direction to living life and eating in a much healthier manner. And you don’t have to sacrifice taste to do it.
