U.S. health authorities have made pregnant women one of the highest priority groups for getting the H1N1 swine flu vaccine, but is it actually safe for pregnant women and their babies? Well, the truth is that miscarriage reports from pregnant women who have taken the H1N1 swine flu vaccine are starting to pour in from all over the nation. Vaccines and pregnancy simply do not mix safely. In fact, the package inserts for the swine flu vaccines actually say that the safety of these vaccines for pregnant women has not been established.

On Tuesday morning, I started cramping and on Wednesday I started bleeding heavily. My hcg was 50 on Wednesday and I was almost 6 weeks along so it was low. They still thought that I might be pregnant but on Friday my hcg was down to 22. I am an emotional wreck. I feel like I had a healthy baby and I caused this by getting the H1N1 vaccine. My doctors pushed it. I researched online and there have been many miscarriages after the H1N1 vaccine but they haven't been reported since it is hard to say what caused the miscarriages. I don't have an answer for you, but a friend of a friend just had a miscarriage 2-3 days after getting the shot. She was 7weeks. She had no previous history of m/c... No one can answer if they're related...it hasn't been out long enough and there haven't been any studies done on pregnant women. I will tell you, that it has made up my mind on getting it...I won't and I'm not going to get it for my DD either. My daughter and I both had H1N1 last week, and although it truly sucks...I think I'll take my chances. One doctor will tell you to get it and the next will tell you not too...you have to do what's in your heart.

my heart goes out to you as i recently miscarried as well and was due in june. i had a healthy heart beat at 6wks. then at 7.5 wks my son got the h1n1 mist vaccine which has live vaccine in it. the nurse said to be careful b/c it could technically spread if he rubbed his nose and touched a surface etc. the next night i miscarried and 5 days later was diagnosed with h1n1. i work from home, kids are home, hadnt been anywhere during that time. so the chances that it is all related are very high. the flu mist vaccine warns for immunocompromised patients (which includes prego) to stay away from recipients of the flu mist for 21 days.

My baby was growing at the correct pace and everyone wants to brush off the vaccination. I also agree something needs to be done and looked more into with this vaccination because most women are being advised it’s just something that happens, but I also had two healthy children normal pregnancies and when I received this vaccination with my third pregnancy, my baby is gone.

I received the H1N1 vaccine on October 16th and started experiencing cramping on the 22nd. I was nearly 17 weeks pregnant and gave birth to a stillborn baby boy on the 23rd. Like many of the other women here, the first thing I suspected was the H1N1 vaccine. I immediately asked a nurse at the hospital if that would have anything to do with it. Without hesitation, she told me “absolutely not.” I had reservations about getting the vaccine, but followed the advice of my long trusted family doctor. In a follow up appointment with my doctor 3 days after I lost my baby, I asked him if the vaccine would have had any adverse effects on my baby. He also said that it was not possible. I don’t believe that my doctor was necessarily lying to me, he was simply following the accepted practices and opinions of his field. I do, however, believe that as a nation, we are being lied to. This vaccine is NOT safe during pregnancy. There has not been enough testing done to determine this and there are far too many “coincidences” for this to be anything but a result of a vaccine that was hastily pushed into production and distribution in an effort to stop widespread panic. I have read so many stories in defense of the vaccine that will talk about how common miscarriages are, but I would challenge you to ask ANY health care professional how common second trimester miscarriages are. My baby was doing perfect developmentally and I had felt him move earlier that day. My heart goes out to all of you out there who have had to go through the same heartache and loss that I have had in the last couple of weeks. There is no reason that any woman or family should have to go through this. Get the word out to all of the pregnant women that you know. I know that if I had heard that women had been losing their babies shortly after they received the vaccine, I would have followed my gut and not gotten it myself. I’m from a town of 2000 in SD, there are several women pregnant and we are all due within a few weeks of each other. Four of us got the H1N1 vaccine 2 weeks ago and one by one each of us started to have preterm contractions. We are all due in Nov and Dec so we are further along than most of the people that lost their babies. There is no way you can tell us that our preterm labor was not caused by the H1N1 vaccine. It may look like a “fluke” to some people when these women are scattered all over the country but we are talking about 4 of us in our small community. I got a flu shot in pregnancy, developed incredibly strange symptoms immediately (numb hands, feet and mouth, heart palpitations, sudden weakness in my legs, a bright red face), began bleeding and miscarried by 11 weeks. I had no idea there was mercury in most flu shots but once I found out after the fact, I was assured that I’d had the “mercury free” form. As it turned out, the shot wasn’t completely mercury free and, according to the EPA website, it still had 5,000 times the limit for mercury in drinking water– not to mention a list of other toxins (MSG, formaldehyde, etc.).

If you are a pregnant mother, please do not take the H1N1 swine flu vaccine. Instead, do everything that you can do to avoid public places and make sure to wash your hands more than you usually would. Take extra large doses of immunity building vitamins and research many of the great natural ways for fighting the flu that are out there on the Internet.
The truth is that if you do take the vaccine and then something happens, you will NOT be able to sue anyone (thanks to Congress). You will have to bear all the responsibility yourself. That doctor who kept pushing and pushing it on you will tell you that it could not have been the vaccine and that you probably would have miscarried anyway.
Do you honestly want to inject a vaccine that may contain mercury, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80 (associated with infertility), triton X100 (a strong detergent), phenoxyethanol (antifreeze) and a whole bunch of other toxic ingredients into your system when you know that your baby will absorb it too and has no defenses against most of these things?

My pediatrician pressured me to get more shots for my kids, but I refused. I’ve recently found out my kids’ medical records falsely state that my kids DID get additional vaccines.

I have a beautiful 2 and 1/2 year old daughter who was born a month premature, at the time, all the health care practitioners involved in our lives strongly were pushing that she receive all the ‘necessary’ vaccines…. Needless to say I will never let another vaccination needle touch her little body again. Weather our health system wants to admit it was related or not I cant help but believe that it was. Other than being small she was 100% healthy at birth and remained that way for 3 months…. until her first set of shots.

They say that children under the age of 6 months are not recommended for the shot. I think everyone should keep there opinions to themselves and stop attacking Janet. Does no one know that there is a different vaccine for women who are pregnant under 20 weeks gestation? It is formulated differently for a reason. Anyways I got the shot today I am 30 weeks and my OBGYN said it is better to get the shot because if I get the flu both myself and the baby can die. I am also asthmatic which is two high risk factors. It is a personal choice to get the vaccine. You are only considering the miscarriages into the equation when you should also be taking into account the number of deaths due to the illness. If you choose not to get the vaccine that is your personal choice but don’t put down the people who choose to take it as it is there personal choice as well. Many of the most commonly used immune boosting herbs and natural remedies, including vitamin c, are used to induce abortions by herbal means. They can (obviously) also cause miscarriages. Any herb that is considered to be an emmenagogue should be avoided during early pregnancy, as should the large amounts of immune boosts-especially vitamin c-that the author of this article is advocating, if a woman wishes to have the best chance of carrying her baby to term.
People don’t understand H!N1 vs. other flu vaccines. It’s the same flu vaccine with different components. Flu vaccines are always HxNx – those are the subtypes of flu virus components. Just haven’t had the 1/1 combo for a while.
Secondly, the facts don’t bear this out. Correlation does not imply causation. It is doubtful that there is any correlation, seeing as how the number of early miscarriages (which most of these are) is quite high and significant anyhow. And even if you assume it is causative, the risk from vaccine appears way less than the risk of flu. Not to mention that the flu itself (all kinds) has a miscarriage risk too.
People who rely on anecdotes without using their brain drive me absolutely bonkers.

I’ve read a lot about vaccines and I just don’t believe anymore that they truly test them well, nor does our government look into claims that these vaccines are hurting our children. It’s not so much that we are a statistic (I could accept that), but that we are an ignored and unmentioned statistic – and there are many more out there. When they will not look into these issues, all we have is anecdotal evidence. However, there is a lot of that out there and should be considered. My story is not unusual.
Stay safe – your body is designed to fight the flu, but not designed to fight mercury and all the things that they put into this vaccine that could hurt you and your child. My family will not be getting this vaccine.
I am healthy, I’ve had the smallpox vaccination, all first responders, etc have been getting that one. Just had to clarify. I think it is amazingly cruel to taunt women who are torn on what to do to protect their unborn infants. There is so much hysteria on both sides it’s hard to sort the facts from the media and the fringe. My husband and I are at odds on whether to take our amazingly lovely 7 year old, who has received all recommended vaccines, to get the H1N1 vaccine. I say no, it’s too new, and neither one of us is traveling to the cesspools of the world at the moment. He is scared because he is afraid she’ll get really ill.

For Healthy, (I agree with the pregnancy non-vac btw) illness free people, this isn’t something that means life or death, and each individual has to make their own decision. I am totally against the sudden FORCED vaccinations that are going on. It is Terribly alarming!
I’m not going to ridicule or torment anyone for doing what they believed to be the best course of action. That is all we can do. I am going to protest the lack of choice the government would like to give us, and the mass hysteria they are causing! We’ve already had the swine flu, it’s been through my unit. I read where so many of you said your gut feeling was not to get the shot….but you listened to your doctor, the media, etc. and did it anyway.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and weighing the pros/cons of having the H1N1 flu shot. I understand NOT to get the nasal mist; it is not even an option for pregnant women in the military community. I have already had the seasonal flu shot & made absolutely sure the one I received did NOT have mercury in it.
I am uneasy however. I am curious also about the ladies who tragically miscarried shortly afetr receiving the H1N1 shot. Was this the nasal mist or a shot using a syringe? Did any of you who miscarried have the mercury-free dose, or just whatever your doctor was offering that day?

I did read the packet for the seasonal flu vaccine and it stated more than once: “this product has not been animal tested for safety to pregnant women”. There are no tests proving safety either way. Same goes for the H1N1. It simply does not exist.
Like many, I feel danged if I do, and danged if I don’t.

There has been so much controversy about the H1N1 flu and the vaccine…at times it seems the gov. is making it up as it goes along.The sickest I ever was with any flu was when I got a bad vaccine.For the last 7 yrs. I have not had a vaccine and have not had the flu.

The testing for the H1N1 for a individual costs a few thousand dollars,the nasal swab does not conclude H1N1 if your sick.Until they can test for H1N1,then there is no way of telling how many people have been sick with it,or have died from it.And most tests where people have died have shown a bacterial lung infection(not H1N1). It seems the gov.loves to keep people on the edge and in a panic state which is what has happened..but I wonder why that is.By the way do you know that Donald Rumsfield is one of the people that you make a bundle on the sale of this vaccine…do you trust him?
The statistics for miscarriage are 1 in 5. It could be completely possible that it was just a coincindence that your miscarraiges occured after the vaccine. Dont get me wrong, I am not being insensitive as I have experienced a miscarriage in the past myself and looked for anything to blame for it happening.

Has the vaccine been tested? NO – it has not been tested. It says so in black and white. It also says that even though you have been vaccinated you can still get the flu. Its not a panacea. Its supposed to expose your immune system to the antigen so that it can mark it and recognize it the next time it is exposed to it. There is a live “attenuated” (weakened) version of the H1N1 vaccine – the mist. Which happens to be the only one that can actually achieve the desired effect. For the body to have acquired immunity to an antigen (bacteria / virus) the antigen must come in contact with the mucus membranes – skin, mouth, nasal cavity, eyes and ears. By injecting the vaccine into the muscle you effectively bypass the very part of the immune system that needs to come in contact with the virus/bacteria. Although I do not recommend getting the vaccine, discounting an obvious relationship goes against everything scientific method tells us to do. If women under 10 weeks were healthy prior to receiving the vaccine, and within a reasonable amount of time, miscarry – any scientist would deduct that there is a link between the two. At that point they would investigate and try to reproduce the findings. Since no one wants to volunteer for these types of tests – it is unlikely that we will ever know. The same thing happened in the 70’s with the H1N1 vaccine and today precautions are taken in order to protect that sector of the public so that the same neurological complications wont happen again – yet we are still seeing those same reactions. Brings a quote to mind, “those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it”. In 30 or 40 years, will we be saying the same thing about pregnant women in their 1st trimester? Discounting possibilities is how science stagnates and this attitude of “it wont happen to me” is why this countries morbidity (healthy:sick) rates are lower than some 3rd world countries. We must educate ourselves and begin to take better care of ourselves before outbreaks like this occur so that we are neuro-endo-immunologically boosted and prepared to fight off antigens naturally. Ask questions, do your homework, but in the end, if you are relying on dated vaccines to treat a virus that mutates faster than we can keep up, you are rolling the dice. Its a personal choice whether you roll those dice but if you do and an adverse reaction occurs, just remember there is no recourse for you to recoup your losses from the doctor that prescribed the shot or the drug company that made it.

I agree with a previous statement: out bodies have evolved to fight the flu. We live in the country with the most access to medical care. If you get the flu, your hospital is around the corner. We are not in the third world. Americans don’t realize how much we are considered a source of income for the pharmaceutical companies and big business. You are so frightened by the slightest thing and over react to everything coming from media and the tv. Kids should grow up in the dirt, get head lice, chicken pocks, flus, fevers, break bones and build their own defense system. What are we really at risk for except weakening our immune systems and giving our hard earned money away? Learn to trus your instinct and your gut. After reading this and viewing the tape, my ideas on the H1N1 shot remain the same… but that’s for me. I feel that the debate has gotten out of control. The government’s have made a vaccine for the flu, telling the “High” risk people to make sure they get it. This is all fine by me, but its up to the persons as to if they want to get the shot, and they shouldn’t be penalized or attacked because they don’t. Every year people die of the regular flu, and the flu shot has been around for years. There is a risk with every virus, and every vaccine that is created for it.
The bottom line is people need to be educated, and if they have done research, and feel that for their family that the benefits outweigh the risk, then so be it.. let them get the shot for their family and feel safe. If one decides that the risks outweigh the benefits, then so be it and let them decided not to get the shot. The problem is people are not educating themselves, they are just going to the doctors because they trust the doctors. Read the info, put it in perspective, and do whats right for you and your family.

I am pregnant and had the swine flu. As soon as I had symptoms, I took 2 capsules of olive leaf extract 3x a day. I also went outside for some sunlight. I used nasal saline every few hours. I ended up with a very minor case. My toddlers 2 & 1 got some olive leaf mixed with applesauce 1/2 capsule 2x a day. They also ended up with minor cases. My husband who did nothing until he was so sick he couldn’t move, ended up with a horrible case and bronchitis.

I’ve never in my life had a flu shot, and I’m not dead yet. I’ve been pregnant five times (counting my current pregnancy). No shots for me. Or my children. We’ve only occasionally even been sick (and I’ve managed to ward off the flu through my husband’s several bouts). The media creates mass hysteria… you know the song, “American Idiot..” I refuse to let the media make me hysterical over silly things. Furthermore, they aren’t even doing H1N1 specific testing right now-they’re calling ALL cases of influenza H1N1 without the studies to back it up. They “say” the seasonal flu isn’t out yet-how do they know when they aren’t doing the tests to differentiate? It’s just another way for them to play their mind control games and force people to donate more money to the stupid pharmaceutical companies (who in turn give kickbacks to the FDA). By the way-the last medication I took that was supposedly “safe” for pregnant women (as I was told by my doctor) turned out that it was indeed NOT safe and responsible for many birth defects-including the defect of one of my own children. Turns out that the company had NOT done testing of any kind to determine the safety of the drug for pregnant women. We were their real life guinea pigs, and our babies are the losers in the game.
And all this stuff about the swine flue vaccine and yet they are not telling us about the Vitamin D research and how most are deficient in this vitamin. I would recommend that most take 2000 or 4000 units of vitamin D a day and do your research and see if this isn’t a better way to boost your immunity. Just google vitamin D and immunity for example.
My heart goes out to all who have suffered horrific events due to these vaccines. I have a beautiful 2 and 1/2 year old daughter who was born a month premature, at the time, all the health care practitioners involved in our lives strongly were pushing that she receive all the ‘necessary’ vaccines…. My mothers heart and gut reaction strongly said “no” but being a first time mom and feeling the pressures of our health care advisors I agreed to having her first set of shots done. Days later she developed a horrible ‘chest cold’ which never really cleared… she would have good days only to relapse into endless nights of trying to clear her little chest and holding her while she cried. Of corse….. none of this was vaccine related. Then came time for her second set of shots… oh boy…. the stomach aches began… but our health unit would not stop calling until I made an appointment to bring her in, so, I did…. only agreeing to a select few of the vaccinations, resulting in more congestion toped with ear infections and many bouts of anti biotics. Her condition quickly spiraled downward into 2am visits to the hospital for a Ventilator because her chest was so tight each breath was a huge effort. Each doctor who saw her assured me that this was more common than I thought and that she would likely ‘grow out of it’. Needless to say I will never let another vaccination needle touch her little body again. Weather our health system wants to admit it was related or not I cant help but believe that it was. Other than being small she was 100% healthy at birth and remained that way for 3 months…. until her first set of shots. Thank God I’ve since found an excellent Homeopathic practitioner who has brought complete healing to my little girl!
I can see there are a lot of shills in this coments section, Julie, may, Sara etc, who are defending the vaccine. Question is, why do these people care about other people’s health? What has it got to do with them? Why do they ridicule people who choose not to get the shot?
They say there’s no evidence the vaccine caused the misscarages, but it is CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence that all these misscarages happened right after getting the vaccine, and that in itself is too much of a coincidence, especially the one with 4 expectant mothers losing their babies. The AH1N1 was under even more investigation, and so is Baxter, who now publically admitted they contaminated the vaccine with the Bird Flu virus, which was created in a lab.

I work with someone who was 4 months pregnant. Her husband got swine flu, so both she and her son got the vaccine “just to be safe.” A week later, she had a miscarriage. Any supposed benefits from the vaccine are clearly outweighed by the tremendous risks.

These are two great articles. One article is from a well-respected periodical and the other is from the most respected medical journal (BMJ) in the world and the Cochrane Collaboration which is the “gold standard” in medical information.
Less than 1% of flu like illnesses are acused by influenza according to Dr. Jackson’s research. So when the CDC claims that 30,000 people die from the flu each year, I wonder how they obtain this number to determine if these people actually had influenza. And if they did, did they die from a secondary infection.
And when the media and doctors are claiming that pregnant women have 6 times greater mortality rate if they contract H1N1, what is the baseline? Percentages and statistic can always be biased, but they do not hold any validity until we know the baseline.
I am so sad for these women who have had miscarriages. I too have miscarried in the past. I have 2 beautiful, healthy girls and will not vaccinate them with H1N1. The risks seem to outweigh the benefits. It seems too coincidental that these women had miscarraiges soon after receiving H1N1 vaccine. Someone needs to gather these numbers and compare them to the number of women who have miscarriages every year.
Please report this to your doctors and insisit that they report this to the CDC or Health Department; if not, take charge and report it yourself.
