Improve Your Health The Organic Way – Use Cucumbers!

The more one learns about fruits and vegetables that more amazed one becomes. You see, the truth is that God created a vast array of natural foods that are incredibly versatile and incredibly good for us. In fact, the other day we learned how absolutely extraordinary a simple cucumber is. A cucumber? Yes, a cucumber. It turns out that cucumbers have some absolutely incredibly properties. Check out all of the things that we learned about cucumbers the other day….

*Just one simple cucumber contains significant amounts of all of the following:

-Vitamin B1

-Vitamin B2

-Vitamin B3

-Vitamin B5

-Vitamin B6

-Folic Acid

-Vitamin C

-Calcium

-Iron

-Magnesium

-Phosphorus

-Potassium

-Zinc

*Not only that, but cucumbers also contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to quickly replenish most of the essential nutrients that the body loses, so it is a great vegetable to eat after strenuous activity or if you just need to bring your body back into equilibrium.

*According to gardeners, cucumbers are also great for pest control.  Apparently if you place a few cucumber slices on an aluminum pie tin where bugs can smell them, your garden will be free from pests all season long.

Why?

Well, it turns out that the chemicals inside the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent that is undetectable to humans but that drive garden pests crazy.  We have not tried this ourselves yet, but we definitely plan to!

*Cucumbers can also tighten up your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.  If you rub a slice or two of cucumbers on the area you want to tighten for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber will cause the collagen in your skin to firm up.

Come to think of it, we always wondered why people would put cucumbers on their eyes in the movies.  Now we know!

*In addition, cucumbers can be used on squeaky hinges.  Seriously!  Just take a cucumber slice and rub it on a squeaky hinge and watch the magic happen!

*Believe it or not, cucumbers can also fight bad breath.  If you take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth for a minute or two,  the phytochemcials will kill the bacteria in your mouth that are responsible for causing bad breath.

Who ever said we needed expensive chemical products to fight bad breath anyway!

*Cucumbers are so versatile that they can even serve as a cleaner!  Just take a slice of cucumber and rub it on any surface that you want to shine up.  Not only will it remove years of tarnish, it will bring back the shine and it won’t leave streaks!

We just wanted to share this info about cucumbers with you because we thought that it was very cool.

But unfortunately, the big agricultural companies will probably start genetically modifying cucumbers in a few years and we’ll probably start losing many of these amazing properties.

Nature was fine just the way that it was, but our scientists think they know better and they feel the need to go ahead and tinker with it and mess it up.

We encourage all of you to stock up on organic seeds while you still can.  Now is the time to pay off your bills, get out of debt and start living a simpler lifestyle.  If you can move away from the major cities, now is a great time to start doing that.

Hard times are coming down the road and we all need to start becoming more self-sufficient and start getting ready.  Those who choose an organic lifestyle will be much farther ahead than those who don’t.  Do what you need to do to get yourself and your family prepared for what is coming.

I never knew cucumbers had so many uses! I’ll have to start using them in my garden to deter pests since my tomato plants become infested with aphids every year. I’m thinking about buying Safer Brand’s Tomato and Vegetable Insect Killer, but I’ll have to see how this works. Have you tried this organic pest control?

Here’s the spray I was talking about:

    Tom,

you should try putting a few garlic cloves into a water spray bottle, and spray that onto tomatos. It worked for my spinach. ONe day my spinach was riddled with aphids, I sprayed spinach generously with garlic water and next day aphids were gone!!

    Good luck
