Between family parties and braving shopping malls, the holidays are often a hectic time of the year. For most, it is a good sort of hectic, filled with smiles and happy memories. For others, however, the holidays are a hard time, filled with anxiety and tears. For many, who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD or grief, these feelings occur all the time. For others, however, these blues occur in the winter. Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a well-recognized disorder that affects millions each year. While there is still no cure, effective treatments can help sufferers of Seasonal Affective Disorder continue living in spite of the disorder.

One of the big chips in the progress of the Human Species is medicine. With successful medicine comes an increase in the aged population of the planet. Everyone of these aged individuals takes up space. A lot of them have no useful productive use anymore. A lot of them require expensive nursing facilities to survive. A lot of them have aging diseases such as Alzheimer disease. All of them eat food until they eventually succumb to one disease or another. In effect, we all age, we all deteriorate, and eventually we all die. I don't care if you are worth 2 cents or 200 billion dollars. The same rules apply to all of us.
How we handle this problem of aging populations is going to take genius level intelligence. Most likely that will not be found in government leadership. I refer to all government, not just the government here.
The maximum amount of time given us on this planet is very variable. I think the maximum age of any individual on this planet in modern times has been 126 years and that is not documented very well. The Bible says 120 years is the maximum and I believe that might be a better answer.
Industry generally gives up on people at the age of 62-70 years of age. Though a lot of modern companies try to get rid of their (Read More....)
Going to the spa is a great way to relax and refresh your mind from the stresses of day-to-day life. Scheduling weekly or even bimonthly visits to the spa at a set time is a great way to take care of your mental health, as well as your physical heath. Pampering yourself and relaxing at a spa is a wonderful way to take your mind off your troubles and to relieve stress. Some spa treatments such as meditation and yoga are also great methods to focus your mind and relieve stress.
When you suffer from chronic stress it can lead to health issues such as digestive problems, depression, sleep problems, and many others. Making regular spa appointments allows you to have planned periods where you get to relieve stress. This is very important, especially for people who lead excessively busy lives. Scheduling a 30-minute massage or attending a yoga class can help to ease your nerves while also allowing you to have time to yourself.
Every now and then, it can be helpful to set aside time to reward yourself, and a spa visit is the perfect solution. Those who live a busy lifestyle may often feel overwhelmed or undervalued. Occasionally rewarding yourself with a facial, a waxing, or time in the sauna can give you the treatment you feel (Read More....)
When you are not feeling well you want to get better fast. However most over the counter medications only treat the symptoms and wear off quickly. What can you do to feel better without having to take a bunch of medication? Try these vitamins:
1. Vitamin C – Vitamin C is found naturally in things like citrus fruits. If you ingest a lot of vitamin C it has been proven to reduce your chances of getting a cold or virus and also shorten the amount of time it is in your system. This is because vitamin C strengthens your immune system. Another advantage to vitamin C is that it is very hard to take too much. It is processed by your body quickly, so you also need to ingest large mounts regularly for the full effects.
2. Zinc –Zinc is another supplement that is proven to help you get over colds and viruses faster. Zinc comes in a lozenge form for you (Read More....)
There are few things more comforting and relaxing than a sauna. Whether it’s the wintertime and you want a way to warm up or you’re trying to ease your aching muscles after a hard workout, saunas are a big attraction. You can’t go to a health club, spa or hotel that doesn’t have at least one sauna. Are saunas really good for you, though? There are both benefits and drawbacks to saunas. While saunas can help you to feel better and aid overall well-being, people with certain health conditions shouldn’t risk being in a sauna.
Benefits of Saunas
1. When you’re in a sauna, your heart rate will naturally increase, also increasing your body’s need for oxygen. This means that your heart will get its very own workout as it continues to pump blood through your body. It’s like getting a cardio workout with the treadmill.
2. Since saunas are so hot, they make your body go into a state similar to when you have a fever. This sounds like a bad thing, but what happens is your immune system gets stimulated. People who regularly use saunas actually have less of a chance of getting a cold or the flu.
3. Since your heart rate speeds up and you perspire during a session in the sauna, you can burn up to 300 calories. Remember, though, that this isn’t a reliable way to lose weight and it shouldn’t replace working out. Most of (Read More....)
